sacrificial love

hey friends!!

after spending 2 months in Nigeria, i am now back in the good-ol' College Station. the Lord did many amazing things while we were in Nigeria and it would prob take me HOURS to recount all of them. so...i've decided to highlight some of my favorite memories.

#1 sacrificial love

meet Manga! Manga Isa- one of the cutest little kid in Nigeria (at least i think so:)). Manga's dad, Isa, was one of our translators. Isa grew up in a fulani family and became a Christian several years ago. When he became a christian, he was persecuted by his family and was banned from his village, while his wife, sarah, was pregnant with Manga. Isa traveled to another town and was received by brothers and sisters in Christ there. Two years later, several of Isa's family found him and brought sarah to him, wanting him to release her so they could marry her off. Isa refused to release his wife, but allowed sarah to decide whether or not she wants to stay with him. Sarah decided to stay with Isa and the family reunite! Now, Isa is going to a bible college training to be an evangelist. because of their financial situation, the family would sleep on cold concrete floors at night without mattresses. Manga had pneumonia several times because of sleeping on the concrete floor. So, as a gift for their help, our team bought the family mattresses. It blows my mind to see their faces light up when they found out that we gave them the gift.

Isa is one of the very few fulani Christian in nigeria and we had the privilege to meet him and learn from him. it was so neat to be able to converse with him and hear his testimony in detail of how the Lord grab a hold of his heart and how much he now trusts the Lord and clings to Him because there is no one like him. his passion to reach out to his people, the fulani, was contagious! i praise God for allowing our paths to cross. his family came and lived with us while we were in nigeria and served as translators between us and the fulani. sarah made yummy meals for us and their adorable kids, manga and esther, were HUGE blessings! manga loved giving us high-fives and eating jolly ranchers:)
